Run with Joy is an opportunity to use the gift of running and movement to run for those impacted by complex childhood trauma by supporting the Child Advocacy Center, Inc. The CAC is a nonprofit 501c3 that provides free therapy services to children and family impacted by trauma caused by abuse; such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, human trafficking, neglect, trauma in utero, mental injury, and exposure to violence. Many victims of complex trauma experience a combination of these.
Run with Joy also utilizes running as platform to provide
psycho-education on how childhood trauma impacts the brain, development, and seeks to get others to view trauma symptoms through the lense of neuroscience and not behavior.
Run with Joy runs for the most vulnerable and operates under the belief that though we may go through hard things in life it doesn’t have to stop us or define us. Running can sometimes be tough, but childhood trauma is even tougher, so we run for those who cannot.
With gratitude and joy!
-Jamie
Jamie has been a Therapist with the Child Advocacy Center for over 10 years! She and her two pawsome therapy dogs help thousands of children each year heal and work through their trauma.
With the hope of also raising awareness, Jamie runs thousands of miles each year between
Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee!
Running along very rugged terrain of sugar sand dunes of coastal Southeast Florida, Jamie made history as the first female AND overall champion with a combined 24 loop time of 15:14:35!
Jamie joined the 80 mile Ultra race that took place in the beautiful Cherokee National Forest in Tellico Plains, Tenneessee!
While 60+ motorcycles drove from the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) to various locations and then ending at Swamphead Brewery, Jamie ran from the CAC to the first stop (Gainesville Harley Davidson) and then back to the CAC!

Please note that not all of the race events mentioned above are affiliated with the CAC. Jamie and other runners are particpating in these events on their own time.
